Duplicate Authorization in Issuer Processor

We're sharing with you some knowledge we have on recent duplicate authorization issues in some Visa transactions. In transactions processed on Dec 9th and 10th, some cardholders reported duplicated authorizations on their statement. We are not sure if these is related to the Visa network issue or from the processor. However, the involved parties are aware of these issues. They are reversing those duplicates to the customers.

According to their official documentation, the issue was due to a network timing error with the Issuer Processor. The cardholder will only be charged once and the duplicate authorization will drop off their account. Merchants can advise their customers to check their accounts and/or follow up with the card issuer.
